2010 Registration is on-line

June 30, 2010 – 2:31 pm

The date for 2010 Tour de Troit is set for September 25. We’re looking forward to another epic installation of “Motown Sans Motor “and are popping our heads up to announce that registration is on-line at Eventbrite.

Now we’ll go back below ground and get back to planning!

  2. I would like to volunteer to be a mechanic or other things for the tour. Do you need any help?
    Let me know. Thanks

  3. Yes! We will have additional volunteer info, as well as volunteer registration, up in the near future. Thanks!

  4. The tour Detroit could be the best thing ever if we did not ride through the REALLY Ghetto and trashy neighborhoods where you feel you need to ride really fast through. I liked the ride except for that part. I know part of the goal is to expose people to all areas of Detroit, but keep us out of the Ghetto or limit it. That was the worst part for me last time. Did not feel safe, people were yelling at us, getting pissed because we were making them wait at a crossing for the bikes to go by. Also have more support ridders.

  5. I am looking so forward to this – I grew up in Detroit but now live in Chicago, where I have reveled in bike life. I’m thrilled to see some Detroiters making the city a bike town! Pops and brother and nephew are coming too. Just need some addition details – like distance. Pops is 80 and still biking, just not super far. We’re excited!

  10. Kris, Detroit is certainly a multi-faceted place. We are sorry that you felt unsafe in parts of it, particularly when we were accompanied by so many police officers. We hope that you consider riding the tour again despite your concerns. We are certainly adding more volunteers this year.

  11. We will have a volunteer registration page up here very soon.

  12. Last year there was a problem with the group getting so far stretched out that the police were getting frustrated and just let people go ahead. 25 of us went ahead and finished the tour by ourselevs. Will there be different measures taken this year to try and fix that. Especially since I assume there will be even more participation than last year. I’m looking forward to riding again!!

  13. My husband and I look forward to this ride every year. I love that it gets bigger and bigger. My only request is that there are more port-a-potties, especially at the rest stop! haha
Unfortunately, due to the insanely huge crowd, we’ve never been able to take advantage of the awesome food provided at the end. Maybe this year!

  14. Nick & Maureen, every year we do our best to anticipate the impact of the larger crowd on how the ride is supported, including everything from the police escort to portapotties! We look forward to you joining us in 2010.

  15. You guys do a great job! It’s amazing that rider participation seems to double every year! It’s a great ride & we can’t wait! Thank you!

  16. Is there going to be a cut off this year? WHile I love doing the ride, last year was absolutely crazy! I know the police weren’t happy campers either!

By TD on Aug 23, 2010

  17. TD, we’re working with DPD and increased volunteer support to manage as many riders as is possible. We also have adjusted the route to accommodate the increased ridership.

And yes, the ride very well may sell out!

  18. will a map of the route be available prior to the day of the event?

By Rob on Sep 14, 2010

  19. @Rob, Yes at packet pick-up. Look for an email with details early next week!

  20. Last year was great!Be back this year!Spent all the months in between biking many of the neighborhoods you introduced us to.2 questions:
    1) If you register for the shorter ride and decide to do the longer ride, can you switch?
    2) is it pretty much the same route?

By pam on Sep 17, 2010

  21. Pam, the answer to both of your questions is no. We plan everything out ahead of time, including the packet you receive at pick-up, so switching is just not possible. We change the route every year. You can check out several of our past routes on the History page of the site.
