Surely, I applaud any community improvement, great idea. But hardly considerate of residents to threaten towing vehicles on a Saturday morning for a 3 hour time span and further request residents to cheer you on. I don’t know but if you want to walk down the street by all means go for it, but don’t expect families to have to get up early on a Saturday morning, especially those with young children or that may be elderly in the middle of this freezing weather to move their car to another block and then race home to cheer you on or in the alternative watch your car be towed and then stil cheer you on. Most families are working and in school all week and weekends in the winter are appreciated at home. In the future, if need be there are under utilized sidewalks available for the entire town to walk down to accomodate any pedistrian walking needs and health improvement, in fact I encourage you to walk after Paczki day as well, again on the sidewalks and not over parking spaces.

I do apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. We could not fit the overwhelming numbers of race participants on the sidewalks alone and did not want to lose the opportunity to bring such a potential influx of dollars to the community, particularly during our current economic struggles. I understand and empathize with your frustration, however. If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

I’m looking forward to running in the street which my father and family members once played and hung out at. I also plan on hanging out in Hamtramk afterwards and spend money! Looking forward to runnng next year and years after with my neices and nephews. What a wonderful way to bring people together!

I’m with Keri! I’m quite excited to run with my cousins and husband tomorrow and run the streets that my father and Dziadzi once patrolled and protected, the streets that my family grew up on, and some still live. I’m looking forward to see what has changed throughout this small city and reminisce of the times spent in Hamtramck when spending time at my Busi and Dziadzi’s house. And of course afterward we will hang out at some local watering holes
See everyone at the start line!

Dear Street Resident,
I would trade plough service down my street in exchange for a few hours of inconvenience.
