The 2010 Tour de Troit is SOLD OUT!!! Only pre-registered riders may attend. THANK YOU for your support, and we will see you Saturday!
Hours for packet pickup are as follows:
Please bring the email that Eventbrite sent you upon registration. If you are picking up someone else’s packet, bring theirs too!
Your packet will include a T-shirt (if you registered prior September 10), route map/guide, wristband, food tickets and event info. We encourage you to bring your own reusable bag to help keep us as green as possible!
Construction Note #1: There is a ton of construction along the Detroit River, and while we are excited for the long-term reason (Bike lanes on Atwater! A new wharf!), it does make it more difficult to reach the Wheelhouse. We hope this map — http://tinyurl.com/constrctionMapWH — helps! Call Wheelhouse at 313-656-2453 if you get hopelessly lost amongst all the cones!
If you are unable to make packet pick-up, please arrive to Roosevelt Park by 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. If you are riding the metric century, please arrive by 8 a.m. There will be several packet pickup lines to move things along this Saturday.
Construction Note #2: There is a ton of construction along Michigan Ave., and while we are excited for the long-term reason (Bike lanes on Michigan Ave!), it does make it more difficult to reach Roosevelt Park. Plan accordingly when planning your trip to the Tour de Troit, and consider the option of riding to the event, taking the bus or parking at Motor City Casino Hotel, which is less than a mile away and has an enormous structure they have agreed to allow our riders to use!
Hey you procrastinators! Wednesday is the last day to register for the Tour de Troit. There are two ways:
- On-line at tdt.eventbrite.com; or

- On-site at Blocktoberfest, a Downtown street party. There will be food, vendors, live bands, theater groups, games, drawings, beer party and more. Benefits United Way. Festivities take place on W. Lafayette between First & Third from noon to 8 p.m. We will be there registering people, so come by and say hi!
Check your in-boxes soon for information about packet pick-up!
Outdoor writer Eric Sharp penned a nice little article about the Tour!
Early fall is a great time to ride a bicycle. There’s a hint of crispness in the morning air, yet the days usually bring shirtsleeve comfort without the humidity of summer.
About 3,000 cyclists are expected to celebrate the new season Sept. 25 with the ninth annual Tour de Troit, a police-escorted ride through the city’s historic areas that will see most of the riders cover 30 miles at a leisurely pace.
Check it out at http://www.freep.com/article/20100914/SPORTS10/9140306/1356/SPORTS/Motor-City-is-now-Cycle-City
Head over to tdt.eventbrite.com and do it! If you miss the deadline, you can still register on-line, but a shirt will not be included in the cost. There will be some t-shirts for sale after the ride on the 25th.
We get lots of questions about parking, which is kind of ironic considering the fact that we really don’t drive all that much. But we know that some attendees will need to travel to the event via gasoline-powered engine vehicles, so here you go! Parking info:
Most people will be able to find on-street parking at Roosevelt Park, located at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and 14th. Another great option is to park for free at the Motor City Casino Hotel structure, which is enormous and located less than a mile away, and just ride over the park.
Every year, a number of people miss the deadline for T-shirts. Every year, the same emails roll in…”I was out of town…my cat puked on my laptop….I had to return bottles and cans to pay for this…my mom wouldn’t let me use her credit card until now….” and so on, and so forth.
Well, this year: No excuses! The Registration deadline for a free T-shirt has been EXTENDED — until this Friday, September 10, at 6:00 pm Detroit City time.
You’re welcome, and please, don’t forget to volunteer if you feel so moved:

We are planning the 2010 Tour de Troit for up to 3,500 cyclists. If we hit even near that number, we will not be accepting day-of registrations.
How to get around this? Pre-register! It’s a win-win! It helps us plan a better event and it ensures you a spot on the ride. If you sign up prior to September 7, you also get a sweet t-shirt with your registration.
Why wait? Head to tdt.eventbrite.com today!
We have several categories of volunteers needed: registration, ride support, food and more! If you are interested, please go to our registration page, tdt.eventbrite.com, and register via the “Volunteer” category.
Before you consider volunteering — which we of course think is a rewarding and awesome way to contribute! — we want you to know that you will be put to work. Volunteering should not be a way for you to ride the TdT for free, because it is possible that you will not be able to ride at all! And you will be required to attend a volunteer meeting about a week prior to the event.
On the flip side, we have a volunteer appreciation party about a month after the tour with a gift raffle and food and drink. So it’s not totally like a work camp…
